The short version: My Financial Life doesn’t collect your information, with one exception: the optional Glitch? button during the beta.
What the game stores
At the start, the game asks for a name or username. It is used only inside the game, such as in your Life Story. It stays in your browser on your own device and is never sent to me or anyone else. Your progress and choices are stored the same way. The game has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Students can use a nickname instead of a real name.
Glitch? button (beta only)
If you press Glitch? and then Send, the game sends your note, the page you were on, your mode, the build number, your device and browser, and a short game summary (age, income, money left, assets and debt). It goes to a Google Form that I own and read. Your game name is not included. If you add an email address, I use it only to reply to you. Nothing is sent unless you press Send. Please leave names and personal details out of your note.
Read-aloud
The Listen button uses the voices already built into your device. No audio or text leaves your device.
Web hosting
The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operations. I don’t use these logs to identify players.
Beta questionnaires
Teachers in the beta may be asked to complete feedback surveys. Their answers go through Google Forms and are used only to improve the game.
Students
I don’t knowingly collect personal information from students. The game never sends a student’s name anywhere, and I ask students to use a nickname if they prefer.
